Sailing “Phoenix” to Guymas

This poor dumb pelican thought the plastic squid was a snack. He's hooked on the damn thing. Jason hauled him aboard and took the hook out of his mouth but we couldn't resist taking a photo before we sent him back to the ocean. A happier and wiser... though probably not much... pelican.
I'm not sure what species of birds these are but they come around in the evening and want to hitch a ride. These were successful and stayed on the bow for several hours preening and resting.

Description: Tierri and I helped Jason sail his 41' Garden Ketch "Phoenix" to Guymas where it will spend a few months on the hard while Jason replaces the decks.
